Gerry Barker is a retired teacher and soldier. As a living historian and re-enactor, Mr. Barker has spent years researching 17th & 18th century life. His knowledge of indentured servitude and other topics has earned him the respect of other living historians and re-enactors.

Many of our ancestors came to America as "White Slaves" or indentured servants. In this DVD, Gerry explains how the conditions in Europe caused many to risk their lives and sell themselves in order to come to America. The hardship of the voyage and the miserable treatment they received will help many to understand the lives of our ancestors.
